Most Reassuring Words By Lord Krishna

Friends in these conditions of the worst phase of “ KAAL” or the difficult times we all are facing in consequence of the pandemic CORONA, I am reminded of what Lord Krishna says to Arjun when he was is filled with despair and dilemma over the magnitude of violence and deaths that the battle will cause on his elders and youngsters. Lord Krishna says that all the people suffering in these times are facing the consequences of their past Karmas which they have done in their previous lives.

Arjun says “Hey Vasudev (Lord Krishna’s other name) “I wish to detract from the battlefield as I do not wish to see the pain and deaths of my near and dear ones”.

Lord Krishna then gives answers to clear all his doubts. It is these answers and discourse that make up the Bhagvad Gita. I reproduce below some of these which may soothe our feelings and fears in these times of the pandemic:

Arjun: What is Life??

Lord Krishna: “Stop analyzing life. It makes it complicated. JUST LIVE IT.”

 Arjun: Why do I worry??

Lord Krishna: “Worrying has become your habit. That is why you are Unhappy.”

Arjun: Why do good people suffer??

Lord Krishna: “Diamond cannot be polished without Friction. Gold cannot be polished without Fire; similarly, Good people go through Trials. With that experience, their life becomes better, not bitter.”

 Arjun: What is experience??

Lord Krishna: “Experience is a hard teacher. It gives the test first and the lessons later.”

 Arjun: Where are we heading??

Lord Krishna: “If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides the way.”

Arjun: Why are we hurt by failures??

Lord Krishna: “Success is a measure decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure decided by you.”

Arjun: How do we stay motivated in tough times??

Lord Krishna: “Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go.”

Arjun: What surprises you about people??

Lord Krishna: “When they suffer the ask, ‘Why Me?’ When they prosper they never ask ‘ Why Me?’.

Arjun: How can I get the best out of my life??

Lord Krishna: “ Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future    without fear.”

Arjun: Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.

Lord Krishna: “There are no unanswered prayers. Keep the faith and drop the fear. Life is a mystery to solve, not a problem to solve.”

 Arjun: Whom can I trust??

Lord Krishna says “ TRUST ME. LIFE IS WONDERFUL IF YOU KNOW HOW TO LIVE.”

Friends in my opinion the most reassuring words that Lord Krishna has said and which are most relevant to these difficult times :

·        क्यों व्यर्थ की चिंता करते हो? किससे व्यर्थ डरते हो? कौन तुम्हें मार सकता है? आत्मा न पैदा होती है, न मरती है।

Why do you worry? Why are you unnecessarily frightened? Nobody can kill you? The soul neither dies nor is it born.

Whatever has happened has happened for good. Whatever is happening is happening for good. Whatever will happen will happen for good.Don’t repent for past, don’t worry for future think only of the present.

What have you lost that you are crying? What did you bring in this world that you have lost? What did you produce that is destroyed? You did not bring anything, whatever you have got is from here itself, whatever you gave you gave here itself, whatever you have gained you gained from God, whatever you gave you gave to Him.

You came into the world empty-handed and you go empty-handed. Whatever you posses today belonged to someone else, tomorrow it will be owned by someone else. You are happy that this belongs to you and this happiness is the root cause of your sorrows.

Friends, I think that if we follow the above discourse seriously, we will never be disheartened and will certainly overcome the worst pandemic of the century.

Karmanaye Vadhikaraste- A Timeless Lesson From The Bhagwad gita

“कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन । मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भुर्मा ते संगोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥” One of the most  important verses  of the  Bhagavad Gita ,  Karmanye Vadhikaraste Ma Phaleshu Kadachana,  was spoken by Lord Krishna to Arjun on the battlefield of Kurukshetra during the epic Mahabharata. Let’s see what does this mean:  Karmanye Vadhikaraste , Ma phaleshou Kada chana — You have the right to perform your actions, but you are not entitled to the fruits of the actions. Ma Karma Phala Hetur Bhurmatey Sangostva Akarmani — Do not let the fruit be the purpose of your actions, therefore you won’t be attached to not doing your duty. Indeed, this message comes from  Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 2, Verse 47 , where Lord Krishna advises Arjun to focus on his duty without attachment to the results. This profound teaching emphasizes the importance of  selfless action  and is central to the philosophy of  Karma  Yoga  — performing one’s duty without ...

Ageing Gracefully

Ageing Gracefully " Ageing gracefully " may  mean  embracing the natural signs of  ageing  without visiting a certified plastic surgeon along the way. Ageing is inescapable, but it is also a glorious thing, you have done the work, you have learned many of life’s lessons now you can sit back and enjoy life without all that youthful angst and uncertainty. People who are over 60 think they’re old. I’ve heard it said, “You’re only as old as you think you are if you didn’t know when you were born”. In my opinion, 60 is the golden age. ‘Getting older doesn’t mean decline or despair. It’s a reason for celebration! There are plenty of ways we can age with grace, beauty, and joy. We can experience more happiness, more success, and get even better with age and experience.   I’ve heard stories of 101-year-...
